There are many drugs in the category of stimulants. Some of these drugs are used for temporary relief of fatigue, mostly those found OTC (over the counter) such as caffeine, nicotine, decongestants, herbal extracts, etc. But even in these forms, prolonged use can have adverse health affects. We have a method of medicine assisted replacement therapy that is effective at leading anyone who suffers from stimulant addiction to lasting recovery. The most common stimulant's that bring people to the point of losing all, including their lives, are drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and various forms of these drugs. Cocaine has numerous detrimental health effects. Because all organ systems are adversely affected by their use, and there are many psychiatric disorders that are a direct result of cocaine and methamphetamine use; intoxication, withdrawal, intoxication delirium, induced psychotic disorder with delusions, cocaine and methamphetamine induced psychotic disorder with hallucinations, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, cocaine induced sexual dysfunction, cocaine and methamphetamine induced sleep disorder, and many other related disorders not mentioned here. Medicine/medical assisted detoxification is highly recommended for maximum results towards successful wellness and recovery. Although the detox period is not as painfully troublesome as opiates or not necessarily as life threatening as alcohol detox, the anxiety, stress and depression levels can be very high, which can make it nearly impossible for an individual to get through the detox period and enter into the recovery process without medicine assisted therapy. The peak effects of cocaine while using or after use, vary in each individual, by dose, method of administration, whether or not an individual has other health related issues, etc. When injected the onset is within seconds, the peak in approximately 5 minutes, long-term use via this method can have severe long term internal affects upon the human body; crack smoking is about the same. Where as for snorting cocaine the onset of action is within the first 5 minutes and the peak is around 30. Since cocaine can be absorbed across any mucousary surface, including the respiratory, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts, a complete medical and nutritional assessment must be taken and medical assisted therapy applied for maximum benefit to lasting recovery. In 2005 approximately 33.6 million people have tried cocaine in their lifetime; approximately 5.5 million people in the past year almost 2.4 million people in the last month. Cocaine use rose throughout the 70’s and peaked in 1980. Declined until 1991, and then increased again in the mid 90’s through 2001. Within the past 12 months there has been a significant reduction in cocaine use initiates. Cocaine abuse continues to be a major drug of abuse internationally. The Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) reports drug related deaths. In drug misuse deaths, cocaine is among the top 5 drugs. On average, cocaine or in combination of other drugs, meth, heroin, was reported in 39% of drug misuse deaths. The etiologies of some of the deaths associated with cocaine and meth abuse include cardial dysrhythmias, myocardial infractions, intractable seizures, strokes and aortic dissection. This data network also reported that cocaine contributed to 59%, 36% and 35% of drug related emergency department visits among African Americans, Hispanics and Caucasians respectively. In 2005 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 8.4% of males and 6.8% of females had used cocaine at least once in that year. According to DAWN, males are disproportionately represented among deaths related to drug misuse or abuse. After adjusting for population size, the rate of drug misuse deaths per 1,000,000 population for males was 2.4 that for females. At Anew Rehab Services we hope to make a difference in contributing to our society a program that educates and treats those who suffer from methamphetamine and cocaine addiction successfully. We continually strive to be the most successful at educating and helping others to recover from all types of chemical dependency, because we outline a program of recovery unique to each persons needs, based upon his/her specific dependency 800-358-9902.
